The cognitive revolution in metaphor studies has recently led to growing interest in metaphor as a device for conceptualization or framing such as calling cancer research a “war on cancer” or labeling the increase of Islamic influence in the west a “tsunami”.
The Resistance to Metaphor project is led by Gerard Steen, professor of Language and Communication at the University of Amsterdam and director of the Metaphor Lab Amsterdam. The project team consists of three supervisors, two postdocs and four PhDs.
The Resistance to Metaphor project consists of two postdoc projects and four PhD projects. The postdoc projects intend to develop a theoretical framework and the PhD projects look at resistance to metaphor in different contexts.
